Dear Colleagues,
We are very pleased to invite you to the third Asian Particle
Accelerator Conference to be held in March 22-26, 2004 at Gyeongju,
Korea.
The series of APAC conferences started six years ago in 1998 in
Tsukuba, Japan. The second meeting was held in Beijing three years
ago in 2001. They have been providing us a unique opportunity to
discuss on the latest technologies and their developments, and to
exchange experiences among all experts in this field of particle
accelerators.
APAC 2004 is co-organized by the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory,
the Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), the Korea
Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), and the Korea Electrotechnology
Research Institute (KERI). The conference is also sponsored by the
Korea Accelerator and Plasma Research Association (KAPRA), and the
Association of Asia Pacific Physics Societies (AAPPS).
The conference organization will be a little bit different from the previous
ones, with each morning devoted to parallel sessions of invited talks,
followed by poster sessions in the afternoon. Papers will
cover the latest advances in all aspects of accelerators, from colliders
to applications of accelerators, and will be distributed at the
same time as the conference proceedings. An industrial exhibition
will be held concurrently.
Each of the last two meetings had mostly 300 participants, and
we anticipate a similar number of participants at the 2004 conference.
For the success of this conference, you are encouraged to register
as early as possible. Registration by February 15, 2004 qualifies
you for the reduced fee of US $250. The registration fee covers
your participation in all conference sessions, except banquet, and
including the conference outing.
Gyeongju has been designated by UNESCO as human heritage. The city
and its surroundings are famous for many historical sites, and a
conference tour as well as a companion program are being set up
to visit many of these places. The weather in Gyeongju in March
is a little bit cold but, mostly clear and dry. The temperature
ranges from 7 to 11 degree C.
We look forward to seeing you in Gyeongju.
Sincerely yours,
Sunggi Baik and Won Namkung Co-Chairmen of APAC 2004
